2 Educational Philosophy Every child can learn if given the proper tools and patience. A print rich environment is key to learning how to read. Success is not how much you can do, but what you do to get there. All children no matter what their difficulties are can learn how to read if the instruction is structured and catered to their needs.

3 Title One Mission Statement The Spring City Title One Program will help students become independent learners who will succeed in school and contribute positively to society. They are to: Improve language arts strategies and skills. Promote critical thinking and problem solving skills. Encourage family involvement in the education of children.

What Is Title One? It is a program that supplements regular classroom reading instruction (RTII). The teacher ratio is no more than one to six. It taps into different learning styles so that all children feel success. 4

Hybrid Learning The Hybrid Learning model supports project based instruction. It provides personalized computer based instruction alongside direct instruction. It allows students to develop 21 st century skills that will make students college and career ready. 5

Hybrid Learning and RTII Students will have the opportunity to constantly be taught at their developmental level. Students will move around in three groups: direct instruction, collaborative, and independent. This gives students the opportunity to work on more concrete skills that are pertinent to their needs alongside the teacher. Students will receive instruction using different types of technology such as smart boards, I-Pads, and computers. 6

7 Where and When  Title one students meet everyday for 45 minutes a day.  It does not interfere with math, reading, specials, or recess time.

How It supplements the regular reading program. It provides preventative and remedial reading instruction. It enhances self esteem and confidence. It allows children to see success in a small setting. 8

RTII –Response to Instruction & Intervention 13 What is RTII? “RTII” is a model for providing early intervention and instruction by delivering targeted instruction for all students.

Why RTII Schools that adopt RTII organize their intervention resources to provide more intensive, targeted support as students display difficulties. RTII provides intervention resources and instruction for students before they fail, and has as its goal prevention of failure. What are Target Groups? The RTII Intervention and instruction is organized into three level, or tiers. Tier Group One Tier Group Two Tier Group Three 14

Tier Group 1 Students who score in the benchmark range on the Dibels assessment. Students are enriched or challenged during target time. 15

What is DIBELS? Dibels assesses five skills that are necessary for learning to read. Children who learn these skills become good readers. (Not all subtests are assessed at each grade level.)
