Topic: Energy Conversions PSSA: C / S8.C.3.1

Objective: TLW explain what an energy conversion is and describe different examples of energy conversions. TLW state the Law of Conservation of Energy

MI #1: What is an Energy Conversion? An energy conversion is a change from one form of energy to another. Any form of energy can change into any other form of energy (although some conversions are more likely than others)

MI #2: Why are energy conversions important? Energy conversions are important because they allow people to use different forms of energy to run machines to make work easier.

MI #3: The Law of Conservation of Energy The Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, just transformed from one form to another. No energy conversions occur without some energy being released in the form of Heat (due to friction); therefore in any conversion, some energy is wasted (or lost).

So What…? Real Life Application Energy conversions are necessary for everything that we do.
