0 © 2015 ADR International The Virtual Supplier Visit This classroom-based simulation leads professionals in procurement, engineering, quality and other operations functions through the key steps of making a successful visit to a supplier. The objective of the session is to plan, execute and analyse data collected on a 2-day simulated factory tour. Using visuals, interview, questioning skills and problem-solving techniques, participants will generate a cost and value improvement plan targeted at securing a vendor relationship that yield higher benefits. Effective communication and teamwork are key requirements to achieving business success. ADR’s Virtual Supplier Visit is an experiential learning concept that will support all staff involved in the supplier selection, evaluation and management process. Participants practise how to engage effectively with suppliers whilst at the vendor’s premises, to ensure your business optimises its commercial effectiveness and outcomes.

1 © 2015 ADR International The Virtual Supplier Visit - Course Outline Course Objectives Understand how to work with colleagues to plan an effective supplier visit. Identify where to gather information to develop an understanding of a supplier’s cost base. Practise approaches to gain data through open questioning and observation. Determine how to use the data to build a cost and value improvement action plan. Incorporate CSR and commercial aspects into a supplier visit. Course Contents When to visit suppliers; who should visit suppliers; building an agenda for the visit; agreeing roles and responsibilities for the visit; preparing influencing messages; building a model and understanding where to get the data to populate gaps in knowledge; agreeing what departments to visit and how to elicit the required information; understanding the suppliers’ strategies; determining what data can be collected on a visit and what purpose it serves; data analysis during and after a visit; building a cost model and improvement action plan. Achieve greater power and authority in supplier relationships through use of the data and influencing techniques applied. Work as an effective cross-functional team in evaluating the cost, quality and performance profile of suppliers.
