Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) sets out a strategic, long term and funded plan for Victoria’s transport system It is the biggest single transport investment program in Victoria’s history 25 year strategy, with $10.5 billion invested over the next 10 years for transport projects, including:  $8.8 billion for transport infrastructure projects  $1.7 billion for recurrent costs

Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) cont… $1.2 billion for Better Connections for Melbourne's Growing Suburbs, comprising major road duplications and widenings. $ 0.7 Billion for Major Upgrades of Regional Roads such as:  Midland Highway and South Gippsland Highway upgrades  Bass Highway Duplication  Barwon Heads Bridge Replacement

Meeting Our Transport Challenges (MOTC) cont… $900 million for Delivering a Better Link between the East & West of Melbourne, including:  Monash-City Link-West Gate Corridor Upgrade  West Gate Bridge Strengthening  The East-West needs assessment $1.1 billion to improve safety across Victoria’s network including the provision of safer level crossings across Melbourne (i.e. grade separation of some level crossings).

Key Messages  Minimising congestion during construction phase. Looking for innovation to ensure delays to road users are minimised.  What is designed and built needs to be maintainable – from a cost and safety perspective. Obligations on all designers now.
