Measuring Temperature

A thermometer is an instrument that is used to measure temperature of a person, an object or the environment.

History of the Thermometer http://www.newsfinder.org/site/more/history_of_the_thermometer/

Temperature is measure using two major scales: Celsius and Fahrenheit.

Celsius Temperature Scale o C “C” is the symbol used for the Celsius scale. It is read “degrees” Celsius. Celsius is the metric temperature scale.

Using the Celsius Scale To understand Celsius temperatures just remember: Thirty's warm, Twenty's nice, Ten's cold, Zero's ice.

Fahrenheit Temperature Scale The Fahrenheit scale is the most popular in the United States. It is the standard form of measuring temperature. The symbol is “F”. oF

Comparing Celsius to Fahrenheit Water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius and at 212 degrees Fahrenheit.
