THE CONFEDERATES VS. THE UNION The Confederate Army fought against the Union in a three day battle on July This battle was held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Robert E. Lee was born on January 19, 1807 in Stratford Hall, Virginia. Robert E. Lee was the commander of the Confederate army. Lee intended on collecting supplies and taking the fighting away from Virginia. Lee wanted to take away the North’s hunger for war. ROBERT E. LEE

Born December 31, 1815 in Cadiz, Spain. Meade was the commander of the Union army. Meade took Joseph Hooker’s place as commander of the Union a few days before the Battle of Gettysburg. Commander of the winning army – The Union. GEORGE G. MEADE

During the Battle of Gettysburg, many houses and buildings were used for makeshift hospitals, meeting areas, and places to watch over what was happening.
