Uddingston Grammar School

 It is a new way of learning about the World  It means you will learn in different ways  It means you will have more choices over what you do  It means you should always find something interesting to do and learn  It means your teachers can try new things with you  It means your subjects are now joined up and work together Uddingston Grammar School

 We have changed the topics you are studying  We have changed how much ‘teacher’ teaching you get  We have brought in new courses  We have changed how much groupwork you get  We have changed how we report on you  We will be changing how you choose OPTIONS  You will get DIFFERENT qualifications from school Uddingston Grammar School

 New types of courses – called NATIONALS  National 3 = FOUNDATION  National 4 = GENERAL / INTERMEDIATE 1  National 5 = CREDIT / INTERMEDIATE 2 Uddingston Grammar School

 That depends…  You WILL sit ENGLISH, MATHS and PE, but may have 4,5 or 6 other options  What levels will they be ?  That depends on YOU and your teachers Uddingston Grammar School

 New Nationals  They go up to Level 6 and 7  National 6 = HIGHER  National 7 = Advanced Higher  Is every school doing the same ?  NO Uddingston Grammar School

 We are supposed to START the Nationals in S4 – we are not – we are starting in S3  We are supposed to only sit 6 – we are not – we are looking at about 8  Some schools are doing similar things to us, but some are not Uddingston Grammar School

 We are Uddingston Grammar  We think YOU deserve the BEST  We think only having 1 year to study is too short  We think only having 6 subjects restricts your options  We think our system offers YOU more choices and more chances Uddingston Grammar School

 We need to ask the staff, your parents / guardians, and you what you think about our proposals  We need to make a decision before Summer so that we all know what it is we want  Remember – Curriculum for Excellence is the best thing to happen to Scotland’s education system in over 30 years – you are very lucky to be part of it !
