Welcome to Team 8A Algebra I, Part 1 with Brenda Cantor & Megan Hayman

Tonight’s Guiding Question is: How can we work together to help your child to be successful in Algebra this year? 2

About Brenda Cantor…. 17 th year at CMS teaching math (24 th year of teaching) The “rumors” are true…. 1. I love teaching Algebra 2. I love teaching 8 th graders 3. Yes, we’ll be singing in class this year 3

About Megan Hayman…. 6 th year at CMS (13 th year of teaching) I’m excited to be working with your kids this year 1. I worked for a year as an aide to the Chair of the Senate Education Committee 2. I’ve taught all levels of MS & HS up and down the east coast 3. 8 th grade is my favorite 4

About Our Curriculum… We study the first half of Algebra I this year. Next year in 9 th grade, students will take Algebra I, Part 2 to study the second half of Algebra I. Algebra is the foundation for all future math courses so students will develop their Algebra skills, and hopefully build their math confidence, too

About Our “Routine”… 6 Students copy each day’s Guiding Question on the Guiding Question calendar. The calendar is a resource students can use to help prepare for assessments. It can also be used to help students answer your question: “What did you learn in school today?”
