Lincoln Unified Policy Prohibited student conduct includes but is not limited to: Harassment of students or staff, such as bullying, including cyberbullying, intimidation, hazing or initiation activity, ridicule, extortion, or any other verbal, written, or physical conduct that causes or threatens to cause bodily harm or emotional suffering Harassment of students or staff, such as bullying, including cyberbullying, intimidation, hazing or initiation activity, ridicule, extortion, or any other verbal, written, or physical conduct that causes or threatens to cause bodily harm or emotional suffering.... Board Policy 5131(a) states...

You Need to Know If your actions cause a substantial disruption or reasonably foreseeable risk of a substantial disruption of school activities, you are not protected by your first amendment rights.

That Means... If you bully, threaten or sexually harass someone, in person, in writing or electronically, you may be suspended or expelled.

What should you do if happens to YOU?

Respond to the conduct immediately in a way that clearly communicates the behavior is NOT wanted Don’t ignore it or laugh it off. This can be misinterpreted as accepting the behavior and/or welcoming it to continue. Immediately report the incident to a staff member - tell who, what, when, and where it happened Student Responsibilities

Speak directly to the offending student about what happened, making it clear the behavior was unwanted by the student and should never happen again Report the incident to the offending student’s assistant principal Staff Member Responsibilities

Speak to the student to document the incident and determine its validity Determine appropriate consequence, from “official warning” up through suspension Notify parent(s) Second offense - suspend the student for FIVE days Continued offenses - recommendation for expulsion Administrator’s Responsibilities

Solution Teams A team of students and Solutions Coach Students are not in trouble, but part of a team to identify what they can do to solve a problem The team is made up of students who can help and positive leaders from the peer group Two structured follow-up meetings, the final one attended by the target, if he/she wants to attend.

Remember The internet and social media can be positive tools to help you communicate, share ideas and participate in long distance learning. It does, however, come with responsibility. Use it wisely!
