SESSION PLAN PRESENTATION Creative combination play and Individual Skill to create goal scoring opportunities - Improving Wing-Play SESSION PLAN PRESENTATION

Football Problem Our Wingers7 & 11 not supporting 9 & 10 and not giving us width in attack. 7/11 not getting in behind defence and not getting ball or themselves into goal scoring areas.

Objectives of the Session Today I aim to improve…. The number of goal scoring opportunities created , through better creative combination play between our 7/11 and our midfield and strikers Individual ability and positioning of our 7/11

Positioning Can I get into a position where I can receive the ball? Away from my opponent In between defenders In between the defensive lines Where I can see & play forward Where I can run with the ball Where I can shoot

Passing Practice Organization: Ball played to wingers feet when defender has dropped off. Winger goes around defender 1 v 1 cuts ball back to 10. Organization: Players in 2 groups. Min 12, 14-16 players ideally. Area P/Box to far-side centre circle and full width. 2 players start on 3, 4. 2 players on 6, 8. 1 player for 7 and 11 and 1 player for each 10.

Passing Practice Ball played into space behind tight marking defender for wingers attacking run. Ball cut back to 10. Explanation/Progression: Both sides start at same time. Next ball goes in when 10 receives ball. 3 plays to 6 – 6 plays 7 on the flank – 7 touches forward then plays back to their 10. 10 turns with ball and dribbles to end of line behind 4. (switches lines) 4 plays to 8 -8 plays 11 on the flank- 11 touches forward then plays back to their 10. 10 turns with ball and dribbles to end of line behind 3. (switches lines) All players follow their pass. Var: 3, 4 give 6, 8 instruction – turn or play back- when they have ball played back 3, 4 play long pass to the winger on their side.

Advanced Variations 10 checks & receives ball from midfield, cue for winger to travel across defender to get ball from 10, cue for 9 to drive into space for pass from winger. 9 shoots or plays wall pass back to winger or drops ball back to 10 for shot. Players rotate position 9 checks out for ball from midfield, cue for winger to get in behind defender for ball played around corner by 9, cue then for 10 to attack space vacated by 9 to receive cutback from winger. Players rotate positions

Positioning Game Organization: 2 zones –left and right side. Starting from server to BP 8/10 in left v BPO 3 & BP 6/9 in right v BPO 4, playing 2 touch must play into their wide players in adjacent flank zone who must get past BPO 2 or 5 taking ball over end line into target zone between penalty box and sideline to score point. Score another point if they can pass into 9/10 onside who can pass to GK. BPO 3,2 and 4,5 have max 2 passes to play back to server for a point if they win ball. BP Team Task: Get 2/7 or 5/11 taking ball into target zone . BP Player Tasks: 7/11. Can you get on the outside shoulder of defender and take 1st touch forward in wide areas Can you stay wide to create space for yourself or drag defender away to create space inside. Can you carry ball in behind around defender in wide area if he drops off and leaves you space.(1v1) Can you run in behind defender to receive ball if he gets too tight or square. Can you make run into space at right time to support 6/9 8/10 when they receive ball. 7/11 Can you bounce ball back to 2/5 if you cant play forward 2/5 Can you play a wall pass with 7/11 to get in behind Variation: have 9 and 10 travel into box for return ball from 7/11

Game Training Organization 14 players 6 Red + GK v 6 Blue + server/target(2nd keeper) Bibs, large goal, balls Starting point: Server/Target plays ball in to Blue 6 or 8 from c/circle other side of ½ way Defending team when in BP have 5 passes to play out to server/target. 1 point Explanation/Progression BP team: Keep controlled possession looking for the right moment to play a ball in behind to 1 of our strikers, or look to get ball to 1 of our strikers where they have space to carry the ball in behind. 2 points if 7/11 score or assist. BPO team: set a compact defense about edge of back and middle third, closing down ball and direct pass to goal. Limit options of attackers to play effective forward balls.

Game Training- Team Task BP-Get ball in behind defence and score Game Training- Team Task BP-Get ball in behind defence and score. 2 points if 7/11 score or assist Player Tasks:7/11.
