Definition  Library of Congress Demographic Group Terms or LCDGT is : “Designed to describe the characteristics of the intended audiences of resources, and also the creators of, and contributors to, those resources”  All types of materials including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, compositions, individual works or collection of works  “Clearly stated on the resource or are otherwise obvious without doing additional research”

Purpose  Current subject headings are:  Too general  Lack of consistency  Will help with searching  LCDGT will break down into 11 catagories
