Getting Started Identified universities and colleges with Risk Management & Insurance programs Developed a Student Development Committee lead by a Board member. o Currently have 6 members  Designated a “champion” for each school  Responsible for all communication with assigned school  Leads annual internship search and student competition Meet and develop relationships with key faculty 7

Activities / Programs Internship o As of FY’12 sponsored/paid for by chapter o 10 weeks o spend 5 weeks with one company / 5 with another o Attend a “day-in-the-life” with a broker, underwriting meetings, etc. Student Competition o Relevant topic selected o Essay submissions o Top 3 winners present during April chapter meeting; 3 judge panel votes based on criteria o Award scholarship money to top 3 8

Activities / Programs Monthly Chapter Meetings o Encourage students & faculty to attend o Feb 2013 students will lead meeting teaching attendees how to use social media (Tweeter, Facebook, etc.) o We hold meetings at local universities Other o In calendar 2013 holding a student only meeting (intern’s idea) o Will have a dozen industry professionals explain “day in life” and then hold a social networking hour o Student volunteers at Chapter Spencer Golf Outing & other social / fundraising events 9

12 PROBLEM STATEMENT  Increased demand on RMs  Difficulty with risk assessment  Surveys: low confidence levels in risk ID;  Results lack fresh insight or incisive analysis.  Difficulty with ERM implementation  Failure rates are high;  Buy-in problem seems insurmountable.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A WORKSHOP DAY 1 Review of basic course materials. DAY2 Explanation of comprehensive, coherent RA Explanation of principles of successful ERM DAY 2-3 Participants practice: -prepare context papers; -run through demo risk IDs; -present implementation plans. Constructive critique and interaction. 13
