1 NAMSS Updates 2018

2 NAMSS Updates One of the biggest announcements of 2017 year was the updated NAMSS Brand! The medical services profession has evolved over the past 40 years to where we are today – a true profession that spans a wide range of employment settings and requires a specific knowledge base and professional competencies. Through our education, advocacy and commitment to patient safety, NAMSS continues to support MSPs, our members, and the healthcare industry. This past year, we performed several focus groups to gain insight from members and non-members on the current state of the profession, their roles, and the value that NAMSS brings to the medical services profession. Based on what we heard and given the changes in the industry and the progression of our roles as MSPs, the Board decided it was time to make some changes to ensure NAMSS remains relevant and positioned to represent the current and future state of our profession. The result of that was this beautiful new logo, as well as an update to our mission and vision statements.

3 NAMSS Updates Mission Vision
To enhance the professional development and recognition of the medical services profession through education and advocacy.  Vision Ensure healthcare quality and patient safety. The new NAMSS mission, vision, and logo allow us to spotlight what we stand for, who we stand by, and what we are striving to accomplish.

4 NAMSS in 2018 and beyond 2018 – 2020 Strategic Plan
CVO Excellence Conference Technology Developments I’m thrilled to be assuming the role of President-Elect of NAMSS for 2018, and I want to highlight what we’ll be working on this year. Earlier this week, the NAMSS board spent several hours discussing the future of the profession and developing a strategic plan which will guide our activities for the coming years. We’ll be sharing more information about the strategic plan in coming months – I am very excited about where NAMSS is heading! The NAMSS board voted just last week to invest in education, and we’ll be building several new courses in 2018, including a course for managed care organizations, a built-out credentialing pathway, and additional leadership courses. NAMSS will also be holding a CVO Excellence Conference in 2018, as part of our Annual Conference. The CVO meeting will take place at the conclusion of our regularly scheduled conference activities in October, We are in the beginning stages of planning for that event, so stay tuned for more information! We’ll also continue to investigate how technology developments, including block chain, could impact credentialing in the future

We all know that Telemedicine is becoming more prevalent, and this is an opportunity for NAMSS to lead the charge in developing best practices. The primary project of the working group will be to develop a credentialing by proxy guide, which will be distributed among NAMSS and ATA members and likely presented at future NAMSS/ATA conferences. It will include an introduction to the issue and glossary of related terms, a guide on developing a credentialing by proxy program, an examination of roadblocks and hurdles to effectively utilizing CBP, and a discussion of the current statue of the regulatory environment for CBP.

We salute those medical services professionals that have embraced and led change by uploading their data.
