Coordination and Policy Development in Preparation for a European Open Biodiversity Knowledge Management System Supported by the European Commission through its FP7 research funding programme pro-iBiopshere

Review of WP3: Scientific content and workflow coordination Walter Berendsohn Dept. of Research and Biodiversity Informatics Pro-iBiosphere Management meeting, 15 February 2013, Leiden

WP 3 - Aims Review of methods and approaches towards creating reusable data in publication workflows – (editorial policies) – (IPR management) – (citizen science for data enhancement, use and re-use) creating reusable data from literature – (semantic tagging of content) – (linking content to external sources) and providing the results to the communities involved

WP3 – Objectives Analyze methods (data acquisition, curation and semantic integration). Review current methods for semantic mark up and their use. Facilitate crowdsourcing [random individual markup] and auth-sourcing [identified individuals recruited to do markup]. [Promote standards in annotation management] Align efforts for semantic mark up of biodiversity literature and provide technical and social solutions. Attract and get feedback from potential new users to biodiversity informatics infrastructures.
