Sport and Leisure

Mapped sport and leisure qualifications from L1 to L7 delivered in Schools, Colleges and Universities in Sussex. Started developments on two new FD’s in areas with skill shortages identified by SkillsActive - partnership between UC and CC. Organising a ‘workshop’ for Admissions tutors and staff from FE to further examine progression from FE to HE. Begun to engage employers, particularly in the Health and Fitness sector - organising an employers ‘forum’. Surveyed a number of FE students on their future aspirations (uncovered some previous research on this area amongst yr9/10 school pupils). Planning our conference this summer on “Workforce Development - Delivering the 2012 legacy in Sussex.” Our Progress to Date

The Challenges Ahead  Engaging the Curriculum Team - maintaining enthusiasm or ‘What’s in it for me’.  Developing effective partnerships across the network.  ‘Rolling out’ the curriculum how will the curriculum be developed across Sussex?  Power to influence change - how much power do we have? What type of power do we have? How powerful can we become?  How do we create a sustainable legacy?

How big is the mountain we want to climb?
