 Presentation – Ice breakers.  Who is the Teacher?  Why Spanish?  Syllabus – Programa de estudio.  Classroom Rules  Creation of the notebooks.  Fondo Cultural – El primer día de clases  For Next Class – MUST BRING YOUR New Notebook!!!!!!!  Project “Community Services”.

 Line up in alphabetical order by your first names.  Line up in alphabetical order by your last names.  Gather with people who have the same eye color as you.  Gather with people who get to school in the same way as you (car, bus, walk).  Line up in order of your birthdays, from January 1 through December 31.  Line up in order of how many languages you speak.  Gather into 3 blobs: Those who have LOTS of chores at home, those who have A FEW chores at home, and those who have NO chores at home.  Gather with people who have the same favorite  season as you. 

 Do you play any sports? If so, which ones?  Do you consider yourself shy or outgoing? Why?  What was the last movie you saw? Did you like it?  Describe your perfect dinner.  What would you do with a million dollars?  What is one thing you’re good at? 

 We are coming prepared, in uniform and on time.  We do not use electronic devices here.  We ARE very respectful.  We respect individualities.  We are working in our BELLRINGER upon entering the room.  After Bellringer we are always busy in our assignments.  After finishing assignments, place your notebooks in the assigned desk for review.

Communication: Communicate in Languages Other Than English. Students with advanced language skills will use their Spanish to obtain information, understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. Also they can present information, concepts, and ideas to peers on a variety of topics. Connections: Connect with Other Disciplines and Acquire Information. Many information in Hispanic World Unit are in Spanish and also relate to other disciplines, like Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Art and others. Students need to use their language skills associated with other disciplines to comprehend these information about these countries. Cultures: Gain Knowledge and Understanding of Other Cultures. Students study these Hispanic countries from varied topics as culture, history, art, and so forth. Through collecting information, reading the document, discussion with groups, sharing with whole group, students are engaged in understanding other cultures from different perspectives. Comparisons: Develop Insight into Language and Culture. The activities conducted in the Hispanic World is trying to get students to reflect their impression about these Spanish- speaking countries, most of which are located in American continent. For American students, they will get insight into the language and cultures in these countries. Moreover, they will reflect their insight into their own language and culture after reviewing these countries. Communities: Participate in Multi lingual Communities at Home and Around the World.
