BUSINESS PLAN

Possible Section Headers Executive Summary Problem Solution Target Market SWOT Analysis Market Analysis Product Description Mockups Implementation Plan Financials Projections Future Plans Company Summary Work Cited

Descriptions Executive Summary Summarizes your entire plan Concise and to the point Most important part of your business plan Write this section last! Problem Self-explanatory, just describe the problem that you’re addressing Solution What does your app do to provide a solution to the problem? Address “why mobile?” question!

Descriptions Target Market Who is your customer? Consider: Economic factors (ex. Average income) Geographic factors (ex. Cupertino is suburban city) Demographic factors (ex. 20% of people are years old) Socioeconomic factors (ex. Good schools -> more high income families with children -> kids with money to spend)

Descriptions SWOT Analysis Strengths of your app that give you an advantage over other sites/apps Weaknesses that place you at a disadvantage (but make sure your app still sounds attractive! You’re asking VC’s for $$!) Opportunities that you could use to your advantage Threats, or external elements that could provide a problem for your app (like competitors!)

Descriptions Market Analysis What does the industry look like? What options do your potential users have? Other apps, internet sites, things on paper, physical stores, etc. Product Description Your app!!! Mockups Screenshots of app (emulator)

Descriptions Implementation Plan What are you planning to add to your app prototype? How will you reach out and advertise to customers? What is the timeline for your events? Financials How much will it cost to get your app on the market? Budget!\ How will you make money? How much money will you make (revenue) and what will your profit (revenue – costs) be? What is your expected return on investment? ROI = (Profit – Cost) Cost

Descriptions Projections How many customers will you have after 6 months? 1 year? 5 years? How much money are you going to make? Future Plans What do you plan to add to your app later? Will you expand your target market? Add different features? Extend your app to a different platform, such as the iPhone? The goal is to win the $10,000 for development, so let the VC’s know what you plan to do with this money.

Descriptions Company Summary If you win, you’ll get $10,000 to put your app up on the market. Why should they give the money to you? To win, the judges should believe in you and your ideas! Work Cited Self-explanatory, just keep track of your sources as you go along!
