Honors Day 2016

What is changing of the chairs? Changing of the Chairs is a dignified ceremony representing the passing of the leadership from the graduating senior class (2016) to the rising senior class (2017). The handing off of the “feather” is the physical representation of this passing of the status. The “feather” symbolizes the physical status as a true Cardinal.

What to do with the feather and what NOT TO DO… Seniors: Do not keep your feathers Do not throw the feathers on the ground Hand your feather off to the first junior you pass in the line Juniors: Do not throw the feathers on the ground Take the feather from a senior Do not stick it in any area of your body

Who is invited? All sophomores, juniors and seniors Freshman honorees Parents of all honorees (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and all seniors) are invited

Honors Day – Senior Information

Honors Day – Junior Information

Honors Day Information Professional dress No jeans No sneakers No t-shirts This is a professional, honorable, and dignified ceremony. Behavior (respectability and dignity) and attire must reflect during this important day. Honorees will sit in the first rows of the sophomore and freshmen section of the bleachers. Sophomores will be escorted in by advisors and will sit in one of the two designated areas. Freshmen will sit in designated areas.

When Receiving Awards In This Special Arena - All participants are expected to display proper etiquette during the ceremony: *Silence all electronic devices *Do not talk during ceremony *Do not chew gum or eat candy *Acknowledge by a handshake and say “Thank You” or handshake and a head node to show appreciation of this honorable award. Please share these guidelines with your guests.

Applause and Acknowledgements for Honorees Polite applause at the end of each category for all honorees is the appropriate way to show congratulations. This allows everyone to hear all recipient names as they are called. Cheering, shouting or catcalling is NOT appropriate behavior in this arena. Please be respectful of each of the honorees just as you would wish everyone to be respectful of you.

One last reminder There will be many non Osborne guests at this event. Some have never been to our school before and this will be the first opportunity for them to form their opinion of us. Please remember then that this is a formal and dignified ceremony and behavior and dress is expected to reflect such.
