ICN Strategic goals To influence health and nursing policy world-wide; To empower NNAs to work on behalf of nurses, nursing and the public.

In line with its strategic directions ICN plans include: To establish a forum for exchange of experiences and enhance networking; To serve as an international hub of activities and networks.

Aim Create an international network of individual nursing students** that exists based upon the values of inclusiveness, diversity, equity, accountability and collegial communication which will serve to collaboratively advance the international nursing agenda in the interest of the public

Why an ICN Network? Why an ICN Network? A forum for quick and sustained ways to share experiences, best practices; Provides opportunities to network with wider circle of contacts; Allows ICN to fulfill its mandate as the global voice for nursing;

Establish and use contacts for information, support, reference; Build professional/peer relationships; Allow face-to face or E- communication; Networks across organizational, professional, discipline and national boundaries to link for common goal.

Objectives Empowering nursing students in using their knowledge and capacities for the benefit of society. Providing a forum for nursing students throughout the world to discuss topics related to individual and community health, education and science and to formulate policies from such discussions. Promoting and facilitating professional and scientific exchanges as well as projects and extracurricular training for nursing students, thereby sensitizing them to other cultures and societies and their health problems.

Objectives Providing a link between members, nursing students’ associations and international organizations, and to encourage the co- operation between them for the ultimate benefit of society. Recognize the international responsibility of nursing students and foster a social justice agenda Promote inter-professional collaboration in an international forum Build and foster the political capacity of nursing students on the international stage

Objectives Serve in an advisory capacity to relevant nursing organizations and ICN in relation to ICN activities (i.e. nursing education/ workforce) Research and data collection of the environmental and socio-economic concerns of nursing students Promote International Council of Nurses (ICN) mission, objectives and programs

Network Leadership Working Group that is globally representative with no one country or part of the world dominating A manageable size which is feasible and can be supported Short life working groups to assist core working group
