2 Leading public health into the future and promoting health people and healthy communities PHLS Description A membership program that provides opportunities for alumni of all public health leadership development programs to continue their learning experiences and leadership development, maintain professional and personal relations, and advance the causes of public health. PHLS was formed in 1993 by NPHLI graduates to provide continuing leadership education and peer consultation opportunities. Governed by elected Council Funded by a cooperative agreement from the CDC

3 Leading public health into the future and promoting health people and healthy communities The PHLS Mission PHLS is committed to supporting the development and diversity of leadership within the public health system by fostering lifelong learning, linking public health leaders across the nation, sustaining the leadership development system, and serving as a catalyst to promote equitable public health policy and address contemporary issues that impact the future of public health.

10 Leading public health into the future and promoting health people and healthy communities PHLS-NLN MOU 1.Determine and establish processes to increase connections between PHLS, NLN members, current scholars and graduates of leadership development programs 2.Develop Alumni products and services that meet the needs and interests of alumni of NLN member programs 3.Explore and identify emerging technologies and procedures to improve data sharing and member exchange between PHLS and NLN 4.Explore and identify opportunities to cosponsor networking opportunities, meetings and sessions at national public health conferences 5.Explore opportunities for join presentations, events, conferences or meetings, programs with PHLS, NLN and the NPHLI to support broader national system of leadership development
