Muslims in Britain… Objective To understand why it may be difficult to follow a Muslim life in Britain. To empathize by writing a diary entry.

True or false? In the envelope are 10 statements. Put them into two sections true and false.

Muslims face Mecca when they pray. Muslims must eat halal food. Many Muslim women in Britain choose to cover their face and wear a niqab. Muslim men should go to the mosque on a Friday. Women can go if they choose. A Muslim who breaks their fast during Ramadan should fast for another 30 days. True…

Being a Muslim… Being a Muslim means there are certain religious rules and customs you must follow. In the envelope there are cards with a list of these. Put them into order starting with the easiest to follow in Britain down to the most difficult to do.

Read the text… Each table has information on one aspect of Muslim life, from food to prayer. Read the text. Write a diary entry for that day based on the topic you have.

Swop… Swop diary entries with another person. Write a few notes or key words in the margin, of things you think they could add. Now go back to your entry, can you add more?

Hot seat a Muslim!. Write down two questions you would like to ask a Muslim about their religion.
