Spiritual Reflection… Learning to Live Life to the Full

Value: Wisdom WOW: Enlightenment TOW: Learning to Live Life to the Full Brockington College – A Church of England Academy

TOW: The mind is everything! Question to discuss: Why is the mind/brain so important? Your brain is like the command-central for your body. Everything you do, think and say depends on your brain. The brain is divided into regions that control various functions, such as movement, speech and balance. The left side of the brain controls the motor and sensory function of the right side of the body. The left side is responsible for scientific function, such as understanding written and spoken language, number skills and reasoning. The right side of the brain controls the motor and sensory function of the left side of the body. The right side of the brain controls artistic functions, such as music, art awareness and insight. Let’s learn more about the brain… About three children in every classroom have poor working memory. This means they find it hard to remember more than one or two things at a time. Scientists say brain training could be the answer to help people improve memory and even do better with their school work. Researchers have found that 80% of the children who attend brain training sessions have shown an improvement. Ricky from newsround has been to find out how brain training works - watch his report. Learning to Live Life to the Full

Time for reflection/prayer… Please take a minute to reflect on why your mind/brain is important for your learning. Think about how you personally can you improve how you learn in class? In our next SR form time, we will do some brain training! Learning to Live Life to the Full
