 The human body is made of trillions of animal cells  The body is organized: Cells--tissues--organs--organ systems--organism.
5.Tissues, Organs and Systems 1. You know that cells are the smallest part of your body 2 And you know that different cells have different jobs.
How is the body organized?. Cell  Microscopic  Made up of organelles  All living things are made up of cells.

Levels of Organization The Body’s Organization  The human body is organized into different levels of organization: from the smallest unit, the cell,

CELL ORGANIZATION. Cell Organization In unicellular (single- celled) organisms, the single cell performs all life functions. It functions independently.

Lesson Aims We will know how bodies are built. We will know that cells are the key building block of all organisms Draw the following organs on the body.

Human Body Systems Lesson 1 Terms and Definitions

Organism Organism - A complete living thing. Example – members of plant and animal kingdoms. Humans, dogs, cats, plants, and more.

Body System Body System – is a group of organs that work together to perform a specific function. Example: The organs of the digestive system process food and prepare it for delivery to the body cells.

Organ Organ – is a group of different types of tissues that work together to perform a specific function. Example: Heart, Liver, Brain 2_52_19/HeartExterior01.jpg770a3d1b b b94112b39522Large.jpg

Tissue Tissue – is a group of similar cells that work together to carry out a specific function. Example: muscle tissue facilitates movement

Cell Cell – the smallest unit of an organism that can function independently. Example: epidermis skin cells (the outer most layer of skin cells).
