Workshop program and overview on Task 21 Harry Vreuls, NL Agency Workshop: Harmonization in Energy Savings Calculation: How To Fit International Experiences With Korean Practice, Now And In The Near Future Seoul, 21 April 2011 IEA-DSM TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Outline The IEA-DSM Programme Task 21 Standardisation of Energy Saving Calculations The workshop and the Task 21

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations IEA Demand Side Management Programme The DSM Programme is one of more than 40 co- operative energy technology programmes within the framework of the International Energy Agency (IEA). Since 1993, the IEA DSM Programme has worked to develop and promote tools and information on DSM and energy efficiency. Collaborative work between countries in Asia, Europe and North America,

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Ongoing work/ Tasks Task XVI -Competitive Energy Services, Task XVII -Integration of DSM, Energy Efficiency, Distributed Generation and Renewable Energy Sources. Task XX – Branding of Energy Efficiency Task XXI – Standardisation of Energy Saving Calculations Task XXII - Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standards

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Task 21 Standardisation of Energy Saving Calculations Started in April 2009 and will end by November 2011 Experts are participating from: –European Union: France, Spain and The Netherlands –Outside EU: Norway and Switzerland –Outside Europe: USA and South Korea Emphasis on Energy Efficiency Also Demand Response and Greenhouse gas emissions Co-operation and knowledge exchange

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Four Subtasks Subtask 1: Overview of Existing energy savings calculation (ESC) standards and standards under development, and use of most relevant reports for ESC Subtask 2: Basic concept, rules and systems for ESC standards Subtask 3: Potential for use and continue development and maintenance of ESC standards Subtask 4: Communication and information

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Energy savings calculations Energy savings are a result of actions and governmental programmes Energy savings are calculated, using formulas and comparing two energy uses The formulas has to be fitted to practise Energy reduction can/will result in reductions of greenhouse gasses

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Work conducted so far Draft template developed and tested in case applications Final template implemented for national case applications –Lighting –Insulation – Variable Speed Drive and HE motors – Heat pumps –Airconditioners

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations The workshop Exchange the knowledge Show how the template is used Test and get feedback on the usefulness of the template Gain information on what is still missing Feedback on development of training material

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations You and the workshop Get information on how energy savings are conducted and described in a standardised way Work with a method to organise and document information for Korean programs on energy savings Get a feeling on what missing information is really needed Get insight how this fits in international developments

TASK XXI: Standardisation of Energy Savings Calculations Thank you for your attention Have a good workshop
