UNCCD ve COP  COP is the supreme decision-making body  It comprises ratifying governments and regional economic integration organizations  Up to the year 2005, the COP had held seven sessions; it has been meeting biennially since

CSOs at the conferences  Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other civil society organizations (CSOs) are important UN system partners.  CSOs representatives can participate as observers to the official sessions of the COP and its subsidiary bodies 6 COP 12 and CSOs

UNCCD secretariat support the participaton of CSOs to the Conferance and their accreditation process Accredited CSOs of Turkey; TEMA (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestration and the Protection of Natural Habitats) Ana Doku (Anatolian Nature and Culture Conservation Cooperative) Öz Orman İş (Öz Orman-İş Trade Union) and Ege Orman Vakfı (Aegean Forest Foundation) have applied for accreditation. 7 COP 12 and CSOs

 Training Program on «The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Combating Desertification» was held in Ankara, between June  Organization representatives from 11 CSOs from Turkey attended the program.  At the end of the workshop, «Decleration of Civil Society Organizations to Combat Desertification» was announced. 9 General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion and CSOs

 In the scope of the COP preperation process General Directorate organized a meeting in order to bring together Turkish CSOs.  134 CSOs called for the meeting.  Meeting was organized with the purpose of giving information about COP and CSOs 10 General Directorate of Combating Desertification and Erosion and CSOs
