In some states, a higher limit of.10, puts you a more serious category of Driving while Intoxicated(DWI). All states have zero tolerance laws for people under 21.

Zero tolerance means it is illegal to drive with any alcohol in their system. Violating this can result in loss of driver’s license, expensive fines, and community service. Everyday at least 8 teens die from alcohol related car crashes in the US.

Putting Your Future at Risk Drinking and Jail: Teens drinking are automatically charged with minor in possession(MIP). If drinking in a public place, the charge is Public Intoxication(PI) is in effect. All this these situations can result in the teen being put in jail, on probation, and having a police record. A criminal record can hurt your chances of getting a job or going to college. Drinking and Sexual Activity: Drinking can lead to participating in unplanned sexual activity, which can result in unplanned pregnancy, STD’s, and emotional pain from unhealthy relationships. Alcohol is the most common drug associated with date rape. Drinking and Diving: Alcohol plays a role in a least 38% of all drowning deaths in the US. Diving under the influence can lead to head and neck injuries, brain damage, spinal cord injury, and paralysis.

Drinking and Teen Brains: Alcohol effects the development of the brain. The changes alcohol makes greatly increases the risk of alcoholism.

Saying No to Alcohol Practice saying No… 1.Buy yourself time: Find a place to be alone and think about what you can do to get out of the situation. 2.Give good reasons why you choose not to drink: To be the designated driver. 3.State the consequences that could result if you do drink: Parents not trusting you or crashing your car if you drive. 4.Say no firmly: Saying No and meaning it sends a very clear message. 5.Say no and give an alternative: Going shopping or going to the movies. 6.Walk away: If your friend still insists…they do not have a gun to your head…simply walk away… up them…
