Welcome to the Team! Open House 2015

Credentials This is my 10th year here at Lewis I have been teaching for 23 years I hold BA and M Ed in Early Childhood education, and a BS in HI education Personal I was born and raised in Nebraska I've been married to my husband Jeff for 17 years I have 2 boys Nathan and Griffin who are in Middle School I love coffee, flowers, gardening and cooking I am a HUGE College football fan GO HUSKERS! Team Motto: N o One Rises to Low Expectations! W e have high expectations for our 4th graders. We want them ready for 5th grade, and ready for life! We will be working on gaining independence and ownership of learning. We are Team Geronimo- We say Geronimo to remember to try our best, be bold and brave.

Cheerleaders and Boosters If you have not had a chance to yet, please join PTSA, we would LOVE for Team Geronimo to have 100 % participation There are envelopes at your child's table. We need help! Synergy This year your child begins to get letter grades that are based on percentages. Work Habits is based on how work is completed, on time, homework completion and missing assignments. Further information is at your child's seat % is the letter grade A 80-89% is a B 74-79% is a C 70-73% is a D

Agendas... the play book Agendas are an integral part of 4th grade The agenda will have all homework written down each day. Students copy what the teacher writes. Parents must sign it each night...including Fridays We update the homework pages on our web sites each afternoon Specials schedule for August and September are in your child's agenda binder

Math Schedule Math Opening Math lesson Math work centers Math closing Math RAP During this time we will open our lesson with a warm up and our math vocabulary for the day This is our main lesson for the day. We add notes to our math journals, use the Smartboard and learn lots! During this time, students are working on problem solving skills, in a small group with a teacher, working on computation skills, math content writing, or tenmarks. This is a quick wrap up of our math time as well as a celebration time for great math work This is our Review And Practice time

Math Journal Math journals are a great tool that we use every day If you have questions about homework please use the math links to help! Learnzillion and Study Jams are great! These are on my website on the math links page. The textbook is on line as well.

Your child will have math homework Monday- Thursday. Friday or weekend homework will be finishing anything incomplete from the week Math homework is due the next day unless specified in the agenda Please complete all math homework in pencil Homework should be neat, and have first and last name and student number at the top of the paper Homework... oh the horror!

I appreciate all you do for your child to help them be a successful member of our team, school and community. I know this will be a winning year and our class will be MVP's! Touchdown ! Sleep Away
