Forsyth Tech Perkins End of Year Evaluation

Perkins funding made a difference at our college by:  Professional development in high-skilled areas for faculty  Mobile App development  NCPN (National Career Pathway Network)  Upgrade technology for hands-on lab for students  UFED Analyzer  DEA computer lab for digital effects and animation  Support start-up of new motorcycle program

Our college’s best practice using Perkins funds is:  Promotion of career exploration and information  Tech Showcase for HS counselors and teachers  Highlighted CCP pathways  Counselors' meeting with presentations by technical area Deans  Support tutoring for CTE students (Example: BIT lab)  High school career coaches

4. We developed, improved or expanded the use of technology in career and technical education by:  The use of tablets for mobile application development

5.We provided professional development by:  Android mobile development training for faculty  Data analytics training for faculty  NCCIA (NC Computer Instructors Association)  NAFnext (National Accreditation Foundation)  CompTIA conference  NCPN (National Career Pathways Network)

6. We developed and implemented evaluations of our career and technical education by:  Each technical program has specific program outcomes and assessments  Capstone courses with outcome-based rubrics  Assessment checklists

7. We initiated, improved, expanded and modernized quality career and technical education programs including relevant technology by:  Providing professional development for new technology  Expanding CTE options  New cybercrime pathway  New collision and repair cohort  Addition of motorcycle maintenance technology  Expanded welding to include AAS option  High school career coaching program

8. We provided services and activities that are of sufficient size, scope and quality as evidenced by:  Services  ADA counseling for special populations  TEAS testing and advising for health programs  Tutoring for CTE students in learning center  BIT tutoring lab (Business Information Technology)  Assistance to CTE students and faculty in Instructional Technology Lab  Tours to technical programs

We provided activities to prepare special population students who are enrolled in CTE courses by:  Tours by special population students to the Transportation Technology Center  Information sessions to promote interest in STEM careers for students  2 female students attended the Women in Cybersecurity conference  5 females highlighted at gradation celebration of the Transportation Technology programs

Closing Thoughts  Perkins funding is crucial to success of technical programs to insure that the programs are up-to-date with the latest knowledge and trends  Increases the ability to meet workforce demands and industry standards  Strengthens the community and future employees  Provides opportunities for hands-on training in high-skill areas  Provides clarity of pathway options for students as they transition from secondary to post-secondary education and the workforce  Provides funding to maintain high standards and skills for faculty in technical programs
