Reflection Book Project

Reflection Book 3 rd Term Project: English 9 1.Only I will view your project, so feel free to be candid. 2.You will use PowerPoint and or a Scrapbook to complete the assignment. 3.You need to include items outlined on the following slides. 4.You are encouraged to use pictures, diagrams or any graphics to enhance quality. * 1.Project will be due June 1, Target Date would be May 17th 2.Spend at least 2 class a week working on this assignment. Make small groups and form proof-reading and editing sessions to help and support one another. 3.This project must be complete with all sections. credit for this course. Only QUALITY work will be evaluated. Lousy work will not be marked and an “ I ” will be assigned for the term. Your Memory Book must have the following 12 sections:

Reflection Book Sections First Slide: Great looking Title Slide – represents you – images. Chapter 1: “Who Am I?” A 5 paragraph essay.  Who you are: appearance, personality, experiences, hobbies…  List 10 things that you want to accomplish before you are 40 years old and explain why. Chapter 2: “My Heritage/My Past“  Write a description of your ethnic background, being sure to include both parent‘s genealogy.  Do some research on your name or the country from which your ancestors came, etc.  Do you have any stories about your parents’ homeland?  You may wish to create a family tree. (Research/Folklore) Chapter 3: “Before I Was, There Were…”  (Your parents, grandparents, older cousins and siblings and anybody who may not be a relative but who has helped to pave the way for you and your family.  What experiences or events have shaped you in your view or goals?

Reflection Book Sections Chapter 4: “ Suddenly, I Became Me ”  (Earliest memories: people, places, events, all those cute things that you did when you were little ). This may be a collage of pictures with short write-ups. (Journal Entry Style) Chapter 5: “ Hero / Role Model ”  Who is or was a person in your life that impacted you?  Describe how this person influenced you, and how you feel about him/her.  What would your life have been without this person?  How will this influence change your future? (Descriptive Write)

Reflection Book Sections Chapter 6: “ Story: Movie, Book, etc. ”  As a child, everyone has a favorite story.  Explain the plot line (Chart) and what your remember and why it was so impactful for you.  Identify what you remember and why – actor, actress, special effects, etc. (Journal / Reflective Write)

Reflection Book Sections Chapter 7: “ ISSUE Write  What is a social, environment, or political issue you feel strongly about.  Take a stand and write a persuasive / argumentative write on something that is important to you.  Use at least one fact that may go against your argument. ( Persuasive ) Chapter 8: “ Music ”  What is your favorite music? What is your favorite band? Singer? Performer? What is your favorite song? Copy out some of the lyrics. Analyze the lyrics. What is it that your like about this music? What does it say to you? How can you relate this music to your life? (Lyrics) (Statement, Evidence, Support)

Be sure to explain the item and then highlight as to how it has effected you. Evaluation If your Memory Book is completed and shows some creativity and thought, your grade will be no less than 80%. The more thorough and the more creative you are in decorating your book, pages and sections with drawings, pictures, photographs, images, or videos the higher the grade will be. Any presentation that does not contain all 12 sections will receive a lower grade regardless of how fancy it is. Any book that is “ haphazardly ” put together will NOT receive a grade. Late assignment will be severely penalized. You will have up to 18 hours of class time – please use it wisely This may be submitted as a PowerPoint or a Scrapbook.
