5/15/ meeting

-21 work days to shutdown -31 calandar days to shutdown -Today is May 15 th all Jobs are supposed to be entered in the work list by the end of the day.

You to can speak fluent chiller/ heat exchanger CUB equipment designations: (should not lose air conditioning) CHILLERS Process - #2 & #4 (affects equipment for pbar booster, Mi60 Comfort - #1 & #5 (airconditioning) for foot print area Linac/55LCW - #3 HEAT EXCHANGERS Booster – HE1 & HE2 PBar – HE9 - Primary [plate/frame] HX8 – Backup [tube & shell] – unreliable/EOL[end of life] Linac - 55LCW - HE3 [back up for #3 chiller] Linac – HE7 - Chilled water[on chiller #3 LCW] Process – HX 1 [Free cooling/winter in Chiller #2 & #4 loop] Comfort/Process – HX2 [Back up for or from process/comfort cooling] PUMPS Booster 95LCW – P1/P2/P3 PBar 95 LCW - P6/P7/P8 Linac 55LCW – LP4/LP5

Chillers: #1 [comfort] Overhaul [4/27 -5/29est] includes condenser & evaporator cleaning & Eddy Current testing. #2 [process] On line - May schedule condenser cleaning based on other chiller conditions #3 [55LCW] Off line on 6/22 - Clean/inspect & Eddy Current testing. Complete by 7/10. [loads must be carefully monitored prior to shutting down]. #4 [process] Off line. Clean/inspect & Eddy Current testing to include evaporator. Complete by 7/17. #5 [comfort] On line. No work planned. Heat Exchangers: HE 1[booster] On line now. Chemical cleaning & open for inspection & plate testing 7/20 – 7/31. HE 2 [ “ ] Back up - No cleaning required. HE 3 [55 lCW backup] On line 6/22 until #3 chiller is available. HX 8 [Pbar tube & shell] on line 6/18 if required. Leak tested & ready but is NOT a reliable backup. HE 9 [Pbar plate/frame] on line – 70 additional plates added in 11/08. Off line on 6/18 – 6/27 for chemical cleaning.

Pumps: LP4 &5 [55 LCW] VSD replacement. 7/6 – 7/17. P6, 7, 8 [Pbar] DDC to rotate/realign valves & actuators’ & perform the valve sequence testing/commissioning for automatic operation during back-up pump start-up. Scheduled on 6/18[&6/19 if required]. The system must be drained. 95 Booster return pump replacements. No funding to replace at this time. We have a new Goulds spare pump & rebuild parts. One of the older pumps was rebuilt [2/09] & we have spare rebuild parts. 95 Booster return piping – replace 3 – 12” valves at return pumps & install 2 bellows.[8 to 10 days required – 95 LCW & return system down 7/13 – 7/24]

Site/other work: ICW system flush [7/31 – 8/7 tentative]. Complications such as ICW line breaks is a possibility. Zebra Mussel treatment [8/7 – 8/8 tentative]. Caseys – ZM cleanup & replacement of ICW inlet screen to prevent ZM clogging. Also a one day shutdown of the Casey’s pond system is required to clean out the inside sump[C4 pump house would maintain the site ICW systems] ZM inspections/cleanup at TEV & MI inlets & other areas may be required. Pond screen & piping repairs/replacements & other diver work as necessary. EO pond pump replacement & suction plug installation[pre SD work in May] FCC/Adam Walters requested us to perform high voltage maintenance at the GCC on 7/22 for 8 hrs after site/MSS outage. Various site water line repairs/excavations. Replacement of ICW valve 224 & additional sectional valve installation along road A-1. FESS Engineering projects[to be announced] MINOS chiller HDPE piping leak repairs will require chiller SD for up to 2 days.

Comments: The 95 LCW booster return pump replacements will not take place due to funding[~$70k required]. Suggest this work is bid out through FESS Engineering as a future project with proper funding budgets. The BGE & BGW dual temp piping remains in poor/end of life condition. Early fall work? The MCR HVAC controls upgrade to DDC is under consideration & requires funding. After SD work requiring ~4 weeks of temporary cooling in cooler weather. The 14” ICW repair at Roads A&B is on hold requiring funding. Should be done during the SD due to beam line shielding requirements. At the CUB we may need to plan/schedule chiller condenser tube replacement[s] to be determined by eddy current[tube thickness] inspections & plugging of condenser tubes during the SD. [For following years] Funding is required to purchase a spare plate/frame pack for the 95 booster heat exchangers[~$75k]. The spare plate pack was installed during the 2007 SD. Lighting/Schedules to be determined by priority & radiation limitations by the AD. All shifts will remain intact through 6/22 & only the afternoon[4 – 12] shift from 6/22 to replace lighting & ballasts.
