IS ESSAY TYPING DEAD?

As we go along the course of learning during our school years and even in job applications, we still make essays. We have had handwritten several types of it. To type an essay has contributed a lot in our learning process. It involves tasks such as collecting and interpreting useful information, time management as to meeting the deadline, and constructing and organizing your thoughts as you write them down in a paper.type an essay

Yet, technology has contributed so much in dealing with our everyday lives. Devices such as, computers and smartphones are widely used to save time and energy. Nowadays, many students use these devices inside the classroom to type assignments, or essays instead of writing it down with pen and paper. Many of them would say it is convenient for them and they can type essay fast than they would when using pen and paper.type essay fast

Others use techniques in typing their essays. This is called Touch Typing. In touch typing, you are typing without using your sense of sight to find the keys. This can improve your typing speed. They say, doing this technique makes them more efficient as it saves them time to “write my paper.”write my paper

In an experiment, students were tasked to take notes of the class discussion. Half were noting them in the traditional way, with pen and paper, and the other half through typing in devices such as laptops and tablets. After the discussion, they were to “type me an essay”. And the results were interesting.type me an essay

The two groups performed about the same in remembering facts. But those who typed using laptops and tablets to take notes did not do very well in conceptual questions on the essay. These questions required them to understand the idea and “type my essay for me”.type my essay for me

Why is this so? According to the study, students who used laptops and tablets to take down their notes often transcribe. They enter notes word per word. They may have written it without really understanding the topic. So when they were asked to type an essay, they have not done so good.type an essay

On the other hand, the group who wrote their notes in pen and paper, must process what they hear and summarizes it by jotting down important keywords. Since it takes you a lot slower to write than typing, you use fewer words. Thus, understands the concept and idea of the discussion and much easier for them to type an essay about it.type an essay

If so, the question will be, “where can I type my essay?”. It was advised that if students could not get rid of their laptops and tablets, they could write notes by hand. It’s a win-win situation anyway.where can I type my essay
