LEVELS AND TOOLS Pre-Primary Primary Lower secondary years Secondary years Tools Skype Bridgit

VIDEO CONFERENCING A window to the world, getting to know others and sense their environment. Real time communication with visual and auditive interaction gives an arena for learning experiences beyond media files. Interacting with a real audience; you present yourself and your localities in an authentic situation. Enhancing communication skills; practising languages in real situations strengthen self esteem.

VIDEO CONFERENCING Using other forms of expression together with others; music, instruments, games, mime, drama. Communication is more than language and videoconferencing can be used also with pre- primary children. Video conferencing is great fun, and the students enjoy this form of learning

Pupils’ comments Heei John; D It was mega exciting to talk to them in Italy! and seeing what they did in their school time! the sound was a bit poor but otherwise it was mega cool!

Pupils’ Comments Hello John! :) I personally thought it was exciting to speak with them from Italy. There were “butterflies” in my stomach when I went up there. It was a good idea to see how they went to school. One could easily see what was different from us: they look after animals, make food and repair bicycles. That they made things for free and gave away money, was a good idea, which I thought was something you could do. For me it was a day you will remember It was a very good idea!

VOICETHREAD Use asynchoneous communication –

CHRISTMAS - BRIDGIT

UNPREDICTABLE ELEMENTS ”Anne – you can just tell your name” The pupils become more self-motivated – prepared much more than expected FaceBook contacts One session led to a visit – a Danish teacher visited the Italian school last Easter

GOOD AND BAD face to face - immediately ask questions good with games – interactivity is important! arrange funny activities good for documentation improve English language skills more interested in working with the content

GOOD AND BAD pupils get very tired sitting down all day technical problems gave a long waiting time

SUGGESTIONS Groups of 5-8 pupils in stead of 20 All kinds of presentations are better, when they are short Place huge files – video, powerpoint – on an external server – and play them on a separate computer. Mute the microphone when not speaking - echoes

THE IDEAL SOLUTION

LESS CAN WORK!
