1 RECYCLING LESSON 1 Suitable for CSWE Level I

This is rubbish We make rubbish when - we go shopping - we do the gardening - we cook meals

We put rubbish in two different bins

What is recycling? Recycling is making a new product from something that would have otherwise gone in the garbage bin.

Recycling =

Why do we recycle? We recycle things so that useful products don’t end up in landfill. We recycle things to save the natural environment

In Melbourne everyone can recycle: GLASSPLASTICPAPER METAL

Glass Glass items can include bottles and jars from drinks, medicine and sauces

Plastic Plastic items can include bottles from soap, cleaning products, CD cases and food containers

Paper / Cardboard Paper and cardboard items can include envelopes, cards, magazines, toilet paper rolls, egg cartons and juice cartons

Metal Metal items can include aerosol cans, pet food cans cooking oil tins, foil and other food cans

Important things to remember All food containers need to be empty before they go in the recycling bin. Make sure you scrape any left over food from containers before you put them in the recycling bin.
