By Thais Pizarro. Igneous rocks are formed when melted rock (lava) cools and hardens. Metamorphic rocks form deep inside the Earth when rocks are put.
Rocks and Minerals By Colin. Sedimentary Rocks Sedimentary rocks are formed when mud, sand, and bits of rock pile up in layers under water. Sedimentary.

What are rocks and minerals?  All rocks are made of minerals  A mineral is a pure substance that forms naturally in the Earth  Rocks can contain one.
Types of Rocks Chapter 31 There are three main types of rocks:
Rocks come in 3 different forms: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. The type of rock depends on the way they were made. The way rocks are formed go.

ROCKS!. Rocks There are 3 rock types: - Sedimentary - Igneous - Metamorphic -All 3 types can be found in Canada.
Metamorphic Rocks  A rock that is subjected to heat and pressure.  They may be formed simply by being deep beneath the Earth's surface.  Being formed.
Rocks & Minerals ROCKS & MINERALS. Minerals must be: Naturally occurring made from non- living things.
Rock Types And Classifications. Igneous Igneous rocks are fire formed They originate from the magma in the mantle of the Earth. Extrusive igneous rocks.

What’s so special about rocks ?????

So why are rocks important?

Rocks can be used to BUILD walls, buildings, bridges…..all sorts of things.

So why are rocks important? Rocks can be used to BUILD walls, buildings, bridges…..all sorts of things. We use materials that come from rocks such as METALS.

So why are rocks important? Rocks can be used to BUILD walls, buildings, bridges…..all sorts of things. We use materials that come from rocks such as METALS. The type of SOIL on the ground is determined by the rocks underneath it.

So why are rocks important? Rocks can be used to BUILD walls, buildings, bridges…..all sorts of things. We use materials that come from rocks such as METALS. The type of SOIL on the ground is determined by the rocks underneath it. The whole PLANET is made of rock. Without rock we wouldn’t be standing on anything!!

How are rocks formed?

Lava from beneath the Earth’s crust reaches the surface and cools. These are called igneous rocks.

Small rock particles or the hard shells of animals form layers. These are called sedimentary rocks.

Lava from beneath the Earth’s crust reaches the surface and cools. These are called igneous rocks. Small rock particles or the hard shells of animals form layers. These are called sedimentary rocks. Pressure and heat change the rocks. These are called metamorphic rocks.

Both sedimentary and metamorphic rocks can be pushed back into the earth’s mantle so the rock cycle can begin again.

Are all rocks the same?

Time to get testing!

Are all rocks the same? Rocks can be all sorts of colours, depending on the minerals within them. Some, like marble, can be used to make attractive sculptures.

Are all rocks the same? Some rocks are permeable (water soaks into it) while some are impermeable. Other rocks are porous – they have holes where the water can flow through, like limestone. Rocks can be all sorts of colours, depending on the minerals within them. Some, like marble, can be used to make attractive sculptures.
