Patent Pending 1 Forced-Air Ripening & Cooling Container Costs and Benefits Ripe.Anywhere.™ and Pre-Cooled, Too™

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 2 Ripe.Anywhere.™ Forced-Air Cooling Container ”It was a modest invention... But it changed a planet”.

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 3 How Big is the Problem?` India wastes 59 Million Tons of fruit & vegetables a year! (India Food News, 12/22/10)India Food News, 12/22/10 That is 118 Billion Pounds of food (30% of total production). If produce is worth 50 cents a pound, that is 59 Billion dollars. At 2,000 pounds per pallet, that is 50 Million pallets. At 20 pallets per 40-foot container, that is 2,950,000 containers. Just 1% of the waste, is worth 590 Million dollars. In India it is estimated that about 60 percent of the value of agricultural output is lost between the farm and market.it is estimated China currently accounts for 13 percent of global fruit production and 40 percent of the world’s vegetable output, and again, at least 30% of the crop, and more than 50% of the value, are lost due to inadequate cold chain.

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 4 How Can Mobile Pre-Coolers Help? Each container can pre-cool 15 pallets per day, at 1,000 pounds per pallet. 100 forced-air containers, pre-cool 1,500 pallets per day. 365 days per year, they can pre-cool 547,500 pallets per year. They can pre-cool 547,500,000 pounds per year. At 50 cents per pound produce value, with reducing the 30% waste to 5%, that is a savings of $68,437,500 in crop value. A container costs $2,820/month, for lease, hours, and power. Cost $33,840/year for one, $3,384,000/year for all 100. ROI is 2022%!!! To pre-cool 15% of the produce, at 1,000 pounds per pallet, 15 pallets per day, 365 days a year, India needs 10,776 forced air containers, plus probably an equal amount for ripening.

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 5 Maximizing Profits of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Fast precooling preserves salable weight, protects quality, increases shelf life The export markets demand proper precooling Fast, uniform precooling increases food safety

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 6 Hurdles to traditional precooling or ripening Need is seasonal, 3 months a year Capital costs are high Balance sheet negatively impacted by capital outlays and/or debt

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 7 The Solution – Forced Air Cooling Container Portable Can lease by season and needs Scales easily Balance sheet enhanced by “pay as you go” Best forced-air performance of any design

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 10 Ripe.Anywhere.™ Forced-Air Container Costs $1,500 monthly lease $1 per hour compressor runtime 15 cents per kwh power cost Plus optional extras

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 11 Forced-Air Container Costs - Continued If operates 25 days per month $60 daily lease

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 12 Ripe.Anywhere.™ Precooling capacity – example bell peppers 5 pallets per load 1,000 pounds per pallet Temp in: 90F…Temp out: 50F Half-cooling time 2 hours 7/8ths cooling time 6 hours Loads per day 3

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 13 Precooling capacity – example bell peppers - Continued 20 hours per day run time $20 per day compressor run time $24 per day electricity (8 15 cents/kWh) $104 per day total costs 15 pallets per day 15,000 pounds peppers per day $6.93 per pallet 7/10ths of 1 cent per pound

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 14 Precooling – Payback Analysis 7/10ths of 1 cent a pound 1,000 pounds per pallet Assume crop value of 50 cents a pound If we can increase yield by just 2%, we increase profits for the grower/packer. If we increase yield by 15%, the ROI is $75 / $7, or 1071%.

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 15 Ripe.Anywhere.™ Ripening capacity – example bananas 10 pallet capacity 1800 pounds per pallet pounds per load 3 day ripening cycle (can load and gas hot) 8 hours per day compressor run time 24 hours per day pressure fan run time

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 16 Ripening capacity – example bananas - Continued 25 days per month usage $60 per day lease $8 per day compressor run time $17 per day electricity (5 kw for 8 hours and 3 kw for cents/kWh) $85 per day total costs $255 per 3 day ripening 57 cents per box ripening cost 1.4 cents per pound, plus ethylene

Company Confidential Work Product, © 2010 Patent Pending 17 Ripe.Anywhere.™ Other Benefits No construction permits Short term leases available (3 month minimum) Can be located outdoors (no building floor space lost) Can be used for ripening and precooling
