Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Monday, Dec. 9, 2013

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!!!!!!! Recycle: To treat or re-process something so that it can be used again Reuse: Using the same thing as many times as possible for the same or different purpose Reducing: Limiting the total amount of resource used

Recycling is not always done to save materials –Sometimes it’s done to conserve energy –For example: recycling metals, such as aluminum from aluminum cans, takes less energy than getting it from a mine

Recycling Plastic

     Collect plastic Sort by number Chopped into flakes Flakes are washed Flakes are tumbled dry in the air Flakes are melted and formed into new things

Recycling Paper

    Paper soaked in water and chemicals, turning it into soft, wet pulp Pulp pushed through screens to remove objects Detergents or other process to remove ink Clean pulp is pressed Clean pulp is dried to make new paper Recycling Paper

Closing it up….. Closure question: Tell your shoulder partner one way that you can conserve the Earth’s natural resources in your daily life.
