How to Flip Step 3: Determine which activities are best completed in class and which can be completed by students on their own outside of class. What is the best use of the time when you and the students are together in the classroom? -- instructor support -- student collaboration -- special equipment

How to Flip Step 4: Determine what preparation students need to complete in-class activities. What would students need to do to be prepared for the learning activities they will do in class? -- reading -- watching videos -- doing other activities

How to Flip Step 5: Identify resources that are available to facilitate learning. What is available to help the students learn? -- content sources (readings, videos) -- equipment (clickers, mobile phones) -- computer programs/resources (CMS) -- formative assessments (quizzes, writing) -- projects/assignments (papers, presentations) -- community educational resources (museums, nonprofits) -- colleagues/experts (librarians, support staff)

Additional considerations You can flip gradually or partially. Make students accountable for preparatory work. Be mindful of potential resistance. Think creatively about resources and learning activities.
