Oceans and Continents Project Goal: As the tour guide, you will lead others through a trip to each continent and ocean. Locate, tag, and post photographs about the seven continents and four major oceans.

Group Roles Job responsibilities should be equally shared by all! 0 Director 0 Reads directions and keeps group on track 0 Recorder 0 Writes or types information gathered 0 Navigator 0 Operates computer programs and websites

Let’s Begin 0 Open Google Earth. 0 Decide on a team color. 0 This color will be used for each placemark label and icon for all continents and oceans.

Set-Up Map 0 Remove all layers: 0 Under “Layers,” unclick box next to “Primary Database”. 0 This should uncheck all boxes below it.

Insert Placemarks 0 Search 0 Enter the name of the first continent or ocean. 0 Add Placemark 0 Add  Placemark

Change Placemark 0 Placemark 0 Name the placemark using the name of the continent or ocean. 0 Change the icon and label to your team color. 0 Make the size between You may change the type of icon to fit the location.

Research 0 Located 2-3 facts about each continent and ocean. 0 Use “Elementary Research Resources” Start with: Reference and Databases 0 List the facts on your fact sheet. 0 Include a variety of facts that you did not already know.

Copying Image Location 0 When you locate the photo you want to use: 0 Click on the image. 0 Click on it again to go to the website where it was found. 0 Right click the image on the website. 0 Select “Properties” 0 Copy URL 0 Click and highlight 0 Right-click  copy

Pasting Image Location 0 Open the placemark for that location. 0 Right-click it. 0 Properties. 0 Click “Add image”. 0 Paste the URL address copied from the photo. 0 Click “OK”.

Saving Your Tour 0 Save your map: 0 File  Save  Save My Places As 0 Name your map: ___________________________ 0 Drag from document to log in 0 Open documents 0 Start  Documents 0 Open your I Drive 0 Start  Computer  double-click I Drive (Last.F123) 0 Click on the map and drag it into your I Drive
