Children’s University – "Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand!" – Anon

What is The Children’s University? Children's University is a national initiative which raises Children's aspirations by promoting, encouraging and rewarding children aged between 7 and 14 for taking part in after school hours activities. Using the National Children's University website it is easy to find Public Learning Destinations when you go on holiday ( Children's Universityhttp://

Why join? Peterborough Children's University is a fun way to expand children's horizons and raise their aspirations over and above school. It allows children to shine in different environments and rewards children for taking part. Evidence shows that it also improves attendance and academic achievement at school as children gain confidence.

How to participate If your child is interested in joining they need to purchase a passport from school for £1. They will have their passport stamped when attending our after school activities. Peterborough Children's University validates public Learning Destinations in the surrounding area and children can visit these during school holidays, at weekends and after school and gain more Learning Hours. We monitor the Children's hours.

Learning Destinations Learning Destinations are places and organisations to which children can 'travel' with their Passport To Learning. They provide high quality learning activities and experiences with a 'wow' factor. Range from a museum to a farm or from an airport to a university as long as the learning activity connects with Children's University learning. Learning destinations can be found on the website

Learning Destination Validators All activities are validated/checked by local Children's University representatives for the quality of learning they provide. All Children's University Learning Destinations are required to visibly display our black and gold Learning Destination poster.

For the children…… Participating Year 7 students at NPA will have a Passport To Learning in which they record the number of hours of completed CU validated learning activities. Children are encouraged to progress through the national certification scheme, moving through Bronze, silver and gold certificates whuch are awarded at CU Undergraduate, CU Postgraduate and CU Doctorate levels. Once 100 or more hours have been stamped, your child will have the opportunity to graduate from Peterborough Cathedral, wearing a graduation gown..

Parents have their own personal login which they can use to access their child's rewards balance and full transaction history View stats and trends on how their child is earning points in terms of how many, for which areas and from which teachers Set-up instant, daily, weekly and monthly alerts on their child's rewards Add several children at the same school to one single login * Pledge treats based on the number of Vivos earned at school
