Agurain (Araba) Located in the historical territory of Alava, Salvatierra/Agurain belongs to the homonym municipality. It is placed between the Entzia and Iturrieta mountain ranges. It is formed by five towns among which Salvatierra/Agurain stands out, as it is the administrative capital of the area and has a medieval old part surrounded by a wall. It was declared Historic Monument in The old part is divided in three main streets: Zapatari, Carnicería and Mayor. The latest is home to the churches of Santa María and San Juan Bautista, both with altarpieces from the 16th century. The pilgrim route of Saint James passes through the municipality. The landscape offers many routes, both trekking and mountain bike routes. It's worth visiting some of the megalithic monuments in the surroundings: the dolmen of Sorginetxe in Arrizala, the cromlech of Mendiluze and the menhir of Itaida, situated in the Entzia range. Those remains are near the Opakua mountain pass and are very well preserved. Aniturri BHI: Its History Aniturri opened its doors in At that time, there were two buildings separated by 1 km: one building was called “the Monks” and the second one was in the Moncloa neighbourhood. Only some subjects were taught in the Monks. Students had to move from one building to the other to study other subjects. Now, there is only one building: Aniturri. The Secondary School has this name because there is a stream near the school called Aniturri. In 1990, fashion & design and engineering were taught at Aniturri when it was also a vocational training school. Some years later, the Basque Government centralized the vocational training courses in Gasteiz. That’s how Aniturri became just a (Post-)Secondary School

There are 270 students (14 groups) and 38 teachers. These are the subjects taught. 1.DBH (Age 12-13): maths, English, Spanish, Basque, Art, PE, Science, Geography and Technology. 2.DBH (Age 13-14): maths,English, Spanish, Basque, Art, PE, Science, Geography and Technology. 3.DBH (Age 14-15): maths,English, Spanish, Basque, PE, Science, Geography and Technology, citizenship, biology, physics. 4.DBH (Age 15-16): maths, English, Spanish, Basque, PE, Civic Education, History + Arts option: Latin + 2 subjects: music, art and craft or computer science.  Our subjects are taught in Basque.  We learn Basque, Spanish and English. These 3 languages are compulsory subjects.  Some of us speak Basque and Spanish at home while some others speak Spanish, but everybody is bilingual at least.

Araia The children who live in, Iduia, Eguino, Ilarduia, Albeniz, Zalduendo, Galarreta, San Roman, Ibarguren and Eguilaz study in Araia until they are 12 years old. Students come to Aniturri secondary school by bus from different villages after they finish primary school in ARAIA and AGURAIN. All these students gather together at Aniturri BHI when they are 12 to start Secondary. Agurain The children who live in Arriola, Narbaixa, Ozaeta, Munain, Arrizala, Alangua, Okariz, Marieta, Elgea, Langarika, Gazeo, Audikana and Maturana come by bus to the primary school in Agurain.  In we got involved in a Comenius 1 project called Education through Sports with SZ Silesia, a school in Poland.  Since we have developed an innovative project on European Dimension which includes a trip to London, a European Studies syllabus and the celebration of Europe Day.  We joined the ELOS net in 2007 and we have started our third multilateral Comenius project. The aim of Elos is to prepare our students to be European citizens. It is very important for us to meet new cultures, that’s why we are very interested in our Comenius and European and international projects. We have also hosted our partners from France, Ireland, Germany and UK.

In our school there is a project called ICT. Our aim is to become an ICT model school. We have worked on topics like Water, Energy, Mobility, Sustainable Economics and Health.
