 Leaderships in energy and environmental design (LEED)

  What is Leaderships in energy and environmental design???  How it works Leaderships in energy and environmental design???

Sustainable sites Efficient use of water Energy and atmosphere material resources Environmental quality interior innovation in design and prioritize

 What is LEED certification ? Is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability. The LEED system offers four certification level for new construction (Certified, silver, gold and platinum)

Leadership in energy for Khalifa tower(LEED)  Khalifa tower with the 160 floor above the earth' s surface got a certificate of the adoption of platinum according to the criteria for leadership position in the energy and Environmental Design of the Green Building Council classification system acts of operating and maintenance, making it is not commercially only, but also the longest green building in the world.

Khalifa tower Environment friendly

Water heating  Khalifa tower utilizes solar power.  378 panels each with area of 2.7sq.m an were installed.  These panels have the ability to heat 140,000 liter of water when supplied with just 7hrs of day light.  This is equal to 3200KW of energy provided.

Condensate recovery system  Collects water condensate from the air conditioning system.  And diverts it to an irrigation tank It provides about 15 million gallons of water per year equal to about (20) Olympic-sized swimming pools.  This water is used for irrigation of landscape around Khalifa tower.  This technique Reduces water related expenses.

Air ventilation  Air ventilation provided at the top reduces the energy conception.  Air at the top of the building is cooler, has low density and relatively humid.  Its ideal for ventilation.  This technique Less energy is required to maintain the comfortable condition.

Elevators of Khalifa tower  Khalifa tower consist of 57 elevators, the biggest elevators carries about (46 )people at a time.  These elevators travel at a Speed of ( m/sec)  The elevators serves: (1044) Residential Apartment, office and commercial units.  Khalifa tower has (service/fireman’s elevator )with a capacity of (5,500 kg) and will be the world’s tallest service elevator.

Observation deck elevators properties : 1.Consist of double deck cabs each cab can carry (12-14) people at a time. 2.Traveling at ( m/sec). 3.Observation elevator transfer visitors to the 124th flower. 4.Observation elevator contains crystal screens.

 What evacuation ????  When the evacuation skyscrapers became an important process for architects ????  What are the necessary action in case of problems in skyscraper Evacuation and fire safety

EVACUATION SYSTEM  The attack against the world tread center at sept2001 shows the important of evacuation in skyscrapers.  How the skyscrapers grow makes the evacuation much harder.  Khalifa tower is different and have a perfect evacuation system  Khalifa tower is naturally as the concrete backbone is already fire resistant.  Khalifa tower consist of refuge rooms.

Properties of refuge room 1.It is insulator smoke room, independent and indestructible. 2.It is air condition, resistance to presser and resist the heat up to (2hs). 3. Made of RCC and fire proof sheets. 4.These refuge rooms has the special supply of air which pumps through fire resistant pipes. 5.There are (9) refuge rooms, one in every (30) floor.

fire safety system  Stage of extinguishing fire : 1.At first the smoke detector detect the smoke if fired. 2.Then smoke detector activates the water sprinkler and the high speed fans. 3.As the water is sprinkler the fire gets extinguished and the high power fans supplies fresh air by pushing the smoke out.  So that it is perfectly fire safe.

 The waste water system uses the gravity to discharge water from plumbing fixtures, floor drains, mechanical equipment and storm water to the city municipal sewer.  Khalifa tower can accommodate (35,0000) people at a time, these produces waste about (7,000 ton) of sewage and (8,000 ton ) of bathing water and water other uses total up about (15,000 ton) per day. Plumbing system

Electrical system  (83.3 MW) is the total electrical load.  Extension of the 32 km power transmission cables to the Khalifa tower.  The tower’s peak electrical demand is 36mW, equal to about (360,000) numbers of (100 Watt) bulbs operating simultaneously  In order to enhance reliability in the generation of electricity, so the tower was provided with a number (5) generators (2MVA) hard (11KV) for support services.

Mechanical system  The tower is serviced by five separate mechanical zones, 30 floors apart over the height. Seven double - storeys height mechanical floors, distributed around every 30 storeys, house the electrical sub-stations, water tanks and pumps, air- handling units etc.
