Beta Club Meeting October 1st, 2015 NAHS Auditorium—3:40

Reminders  Have you checked in with your VP of Membership?  When you plan to be absent for any reason (excused or not) please give WRITTEN notification to your VP of Membership so that it will be noted in the minutes.  We meet once a month (first Thursday of every month) in the Auditorium at 3:40. (8 out of 9 meetings are MANDATORY. Failure to attend will result in dismissal.)  Leave your area better than you found it at the end of the meeting.

Membership Forms  You should have received the Membership Form packet from your VP of Membership as you entered the meeting.  The first page and the survey on the back regarding Convention need to be returned to the box in the Main Office labeled with your class no later than Oct 8.  The second page is an information sheet with explanations and deadlines for fundraisers, service projects, and rules for money deadlines. BE SURE TO READ AND DOCUMENT ALL DEADLINES ON YOUR CALENDAR!!!  The back of the second sheet has a calendar of meetings and events you are expected to attend. This is yours to keep.

Fall Induction 6:00 Thursday, Oct 22nd  All Betas are asked to be in attendance to welcome our new Betas.  Officers that are a part of the ceremony must arrive by 5:15. (See Mrs. Davis for involved officers)  Inductees will arrive by 5:45 and will sit alphabetically  Program will start promptly at 6:00  Dress nice (no jeans or shorts)  Parents and families of new inductees are invited

Money  All money MUST be turned in no later than 1:00.  Turn in money to Mrs. Davis (Rm 107) or Ms. Williams (Rm 408)  Do not interrupt sponsors during class to turn in money.

Fundraisers All members are required to participate!  October Fundraiser- PEACH SKIN SHEETS – online sales  Sell one set (king, queen or twin) of Peach Skin Sheets (online sales - $49.95 per set for any size)  OR Choose to make a $20 donation to the Beta Club (equivalent to the profit for selling one set of sheets)  December Fundraiser – World’s Finest Chocolate  Sell one box - $60 per box (NO COINS ACCEPTED)  OR Choose to make a $30 donation to the Beta Club (equivalent to the profit for selling one box of chocolates)  Pick up chocolate: Friday, December 18, 2015 before leaving for Winter break  Turn in chocolate money: January 6 and 7, 2016  Chocolate may not be sold at any time during school hours!!!

Peach Skin Sheets Fundraiser October 8 th -29 th  $ per set no matter the size (King,Queen,Twin)  /nahs-betas-fundraiser /nahs-betas-fundraiser  All purchases made online, requires no money handling  DONATIONS: $20 due to sponsors by October 29 th if you choose to not sell one set of sheets.

Chocolate Fundraiser December 18 th - January 6 th  Pick up chocolate in Room 303 afterschool on December 18 th  Each Beta is required to sell at least one box or make a donation of $30 (equivalent to club profit)  More information to come at November meeting

Senior Ad for Yearbook  All seniors are asked to remain after the meeting to take a picture for an ad in the yearbook from the Beta Club. We will meet in the lobby.

Homecoming Float??? JACKETS TAKE MEMORYLANE  Homecoming Parade: Friday, October 23  Must arrive for line up by 5:55 pm around the track  Do we want to participate?  Committee chair?  Do you have a truck?  Do you have a trailer?  Ideas?  Decorate float? Day? Time?

Service Projects for October  Alley Cats: Every Tuesday at 4:30—6:30  Northside Bowling Lanes  It’s Spooky to Be Hungry: Month of October  LIMIT: 10 cans=1 service project  Must bring to Rm 107 or 408 FIRST to sign off then carry to front of school and place in bins!

State Convention  State Candidate: Sarah Bigger  “ Dream BIG! Vote Bigger!”  Friday February 12 th -Sunday February 14 th, 2016  Theme:  Cost: $125 total  Non-refundable deposit of $25 due by 10/08/2015  $100 remainder and application due by 11/05/2015  Includes, T-shirts, buses, dinner on Friday, entry fees, hotels, snacks, etc.  Turn in application (found on school fusion page) to Mrs. Davis with your convention deposit by Oct 8.

Convention Benefits  Convention attendance allows students to have the whole Beta experience.  Vote for state officers  Compete in academics and arts  Everyone must be on a committee or compete in a competition

BETA SURVEY  Due to so many conflicts with sports, jobs and other activities we are considering moving the monthly meeting to 7:45am on the first Thursday of each month.  Each Beta is asked to vote if they would like to keep the same meeting time or if they would like to move the meetings to the morning.  The survey will be conducted during this meeting. GET OUT YOUR PHONES!  IF YOU DON’T VOTE, DON’T COMPLAIN!!!!!!
