Each month we will randomly verify at least 5 forms turned in! If it cannot be verified your HONOR is in question!

8 Summer Hours NHS SPONSORED SUMMER HOURS (Not required-this is to get ahead) Work in offices at school (end of this year and beginning of next year) NOTICE GOES ON REMIND Help teachers in classrooms (end of this year and beginning of next year) NOTICE GOES ON REMIND There will be a form to keep track of your sponsored summer hours on the PEHS/NHS website. They will also be submitted to us through Ms. Newtoff and teachers. INDIVIDUAL SUMMER HOURS There is a form for INDIVIDUAL HOURS on Ms. Griffin’s teacher site. 9 How do you find out about hours?
SIGN ON TO REMIND RIGHT NOW (if you have not done so already!) You may be notified of hours opportunities Through REMIND (primary) PEHS/NHS website (send out a REMIND to say they are there) At meetings Signing up for hours We often use signupgenius.com to sign up for hours opportunities (notified on REMIND)

10 SUMMER HOURS DUE DATE All forms for SUMMER hours must be submitted to room 223 in the NHS bin by Tuesday, September 4, 2:15 pm If they are not submitted by the due date, summer hours will NOT be accepted without penalty (10% each month they are late). DUE DATES are important!

11 Sponsored VS Individual Hours
Sponsored hours Anything SPONSORED by NHS Tutoring in the Media Center, Test Center Helper (25 minutes per period) Any hours that are Sponsored will state that they are sponsored Individual hours Volunteering through an organization and approved by the officers You need to turn in an Evidence Form (PEHS/NHS website) for approval by the officers. There will be MONTHLY DUE DATES! If you have already completed hours, please turn those in prior to the end of the school year! After they are approved they will be entered into the Excel Spreadsheet which will also be posted on the NHS site on Ms. Griffin’s teacher page and by 220 It is your responsibility to check for your hours to have been posted! If your hours are not posted, see Ms. Griffin to clarify why your hours were not approved. ***All Individual Hours and Tutoring Hours will always be due on the 1st of the next month. If the 1st falls on the weekend, turn it in right after the weekend. ***

12 “Double Dipping” Any hours required by or because you are a member a different organization will not count toward NHS service hours. If an organization has an event and hours are not required for the organization, the sponsor should contact Ms. Griffin/Mrs. Riedel so we can make sign-up available to ALL NHS members. Otherwise it is considered something you are doing because you are a member of that organization.

13 How many hours do you need? -- Tyler
You will need a total of 20 sponsored and 20 individual hours this year. You may attend one school board meeting (or a different local governing body) for a sponsored hours activity. This will count as sponsored hours. ONLY ONE counts for service hours for a maximum of 1 hour and you must provide evidence that you were there (a signed copy of minutes for example) Evidence forms will be SUBMITTED the first of every month for the prior month. Officers will approve at their monthly meeting. For example, you cannot turn in September hours in November. They will be DUE October 1. If your hours are late, you will be deducted 10% per month.
