ANTARCTICA FACTS *Antarctica is a continent. *Antarctica is the coldest and driest place on Earth! *Antarctica only has Emperor and Adele penguins. *Antarctica has lots of glaciers. *Antarctica is so cold that nothing breaks down!

AURORA AUSTRALIS A natural electrical phenomenon characterized by the appearance of streamers of reddish or greenish light in the sky, especially near the northern or southern magnetic pole. The effect is caused by the interaction of charged particles from the sun with atoms in the upper atmosphere. In northern and southern regions it is respectively called aurora borealis or Northern Lights and aurora australis or Southern Lights.

ANIMALS IN ANTARCTICA Penguins Seals Killer whale Krill Plankton Minke whale Skua

PENGUINS 1.Penguins are flightless birds 2.Most penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere. 3.Emperor Penguins can stay underwater for around 20 minutes at a time. 4.Penguins can drink sea water. 5.No penguins live at the North Pole.

FAMOUSEXPLORERS Robert Scott facts: Early life and first expedition. "Scott of the Antarctic" is one of the most famous of all the Polar explorers. He is best known for his legendary and fatal attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole, a month a month after the Norwegian Amundsen and his party. This page is concerned with an earlier expedition where he first made his polar reputation.
