Introduction to Science of Basketball  The reason I chose this sport because it is a fun sport and u can be very energetic while playing and it takes strategy to play.

Potential Energy  Potential energy is energy that is stored in an object. When u drop a basketball the ball will bounce and that’s creating is potential energy

Kinetic Energy  The Kinetic Energy of an object is the extra energy which it possesses due to its motion. Throwing a basketball is kinetic energy.

Digestive System  The Digestive tract is the system of organs that’s takes in food, digests it to extract energy and nutrients, and expels the remaining waste. It help our athletes up and going and it gives u more energy.

Respiratory System  The respiratory system generally includes tubes, such as the bronchi, used to carry air to the lungs, where gas exchange takes place. It helps our movement from our body to breathe out.

Circulatory System  The circulatory system is an organ system that moves nutrients, gases, and wastes to and from cells, helps fight diseases and helps stabilize body temperature and pH to maintain homeostasis. It helps not get sick and healthy.

Excretory System  The Excretory System is the system of excretion, the bodily process of discharging wastes. It is responsible for the elimination of wastes produced by homeostasis. It helps help body parts to function right so our basketball team mates keep playing in the game.

Muscular System The muscular system is the anatomical system of a species that allows it to move. The muscular system in vertebrates is controlled through the nervous system. It helps our basketball athletes move and run and shoot around during the game.

Electric Energy  The electric energy is the potential energy associated with the conservative Coulomb forces between charged particles contained within a system, where the reference potential energy is usually chosen to be zero for particles at infinite separation. It helps us play basket ball and video games and work out in electric machines.

Energy Transformation  The energy from the food affect them so they could be good and keep playing. Chemical energy is the greatest source of energy used by man. From flashlight batteries to commercial airlines, it is the energy released from chemical reactions that power our economy.

Conserving Energy  Conserving Energy can help basketball players when they have time out that is conserving energy.

Newton’s 1st Law of Motion  Newton’s 1st Law says that an object in motion will want to stay in motion and object at rest will want to stay at rest unless acted upon an outside force. Basketball players and the ball are constantly moving and they will continue to move unless an outside force stops it. For example, one Basketball player may run into another and therefore stop. Also, the friction that the grass makes is what slows down the Basketball.

Newton’s 2nd Law of Motion  Newton’s 2nd Law says that the greater the force acting on an object, the greater the acceleration, or change in the object’s motion. Therefore, the greater force behind a player the faster he or she will run. Also, the greater force with the throw, the faster the ball will go in the basket..

Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion  Newton’s 3rd Law says that “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” For example, a basketball player shooting the ball up will make the ball come down the same amount. Also, the ground is pushing up the same amount the player is pushing down allowing athletes to stand on the court.

Machines  Describe 2 simple and complex machines that help your athletes. How do they work, use energy & force, and help your athletes?

Conclusion  Basket ball would not exist without science. Our body needs energy to play and move. The ball moves and stops a certain way due to Newton’s Laws of Motion. The greater the force, the more the ball will move. Electrical energy has allowed us to watch basket ball on television and play it on the computer. Machines have helped athletes continue to work-out. We need to take care of our bodies and our environment to make sure fun sports can continue to be played!
