The Gift of Quantity & Quality of Life in Jesus! 2013 OIF Easter Sermon

The Gospel of John: “The Book of Life” 1.The Meaning of This Gift of Life 2.The Necessity of This Gift of Life 3.The Receiving of This Gift of Life John 20:30-31 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples that are not written in this book. But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.

1. The Meaning of This Gift of Life John 4: Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. 14 But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again—ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up within him for eternal life.”

1. The Meaning of This Gift of Life John 6:35, “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.” 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

1. The Meaning of This Gift of Life John 11: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. 26 Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die—ever. Do you believe this?”

1. The Meaning of This Gift of Life John 14:6 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

1. The Meaning of This Gift of Life John 17:3 This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent—Jesus Christ.

2. The Necessity of This Gift of Life John 1: The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was created through Him, yet the world did not recognize Him. 11 He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.

2. The Necessity of This Gift of Life John 3:36 36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.

2. The Necessity of This Gift of Life John 5: “I assure you: Anyone who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment but has passed from death to life. 25 “I assure you: An hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For just as the Father has life in Himself, so also He has granted to the Son to have life in Himself.

2. The Necessity of This Gift of Life John 5: You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, yet they testify about Me. 40 And you are not willing to come to Me so that you may have life.

3. The Receiving of This Gift of Life John 3:16 For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

3. The Receiving of This Gift of Life John 10: A thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. John 14:19 Because I live, you will live too.

3. The Receiving of This Gift of Life John 6: Don’t work for the food that perishes but for the food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal of approval on Him.” 28 “What can we do to perform the works of God?” they asked. 29 Jesus replied, “This is the work of God— that you believe in the One He has sent.”
