The Bread of Life (6:35) “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to Me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in Me will ever be thirsty again.

The Bread of Life (6:35) Refers to his life-giving role We no longer hunger for meaning Jesus sustains our eternal destiny

The Light of the World (8:12) Then Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”

The Light of the World (8:12) Light is a symbol of spiritual truth. Jesus is the universal answer for people's need of spiritual truth.

The Gate (or Door) (10:9) I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture.

The Gate (or Door) (10:9) Christ is the way to salvation Think of this statement in light of Psalm 23 “Saved” - restoration and healing; being made whole A place of safety & comfort (pasture).

The Good Shepherd (10:11) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

The Good Shepherd (10:11) Christ is willing to do all that is necessary to defend and save the flock. The shepherd dies in the place of the sheep. Christ does likewise. “Know” tells us that Jesus has a deep interest in our welfare.

The Resurrection and the Life (11:25) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live

The Resurrection and the Life (11:25) Not only is Jesus the source of life, he is the power over death. Jesus is the author or cause of eternal life. We will die physically on earth, but our spirit will never die.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life (14:6) Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life (14:6) “Way” – the road; the only path that leads to eternal life. “Truth” – the source of truth. “Life” – Both here and in eternity.

The True Vine (15:1) I am the true vine, and My Father is the vineyard keeper.

The True Vine (15:1) Jesus is the real, genuine source of nourishment We are totally dependent on God for our very existence; We cannot do good apart from Him
