Tamarisk Coalition Restore. Connect. Innovate. Advancing the restoration of riparian lands through collaboration, education, and technical assistance. Our Mission We envision healthy and self-sustaining riparian ecosystems throughout the American West resilient to invasive plant species and supported by enduring communities of stewards. Our Vision

Campaign Description What: TC led fundraising campaign that will raise money for restoration work in multiple watersheds. When: Jan 2016 – Dec 2017 Fundraising Goal: ~$155,000 per partnership x ~9 partnerships + TC admin costs + TC reserves $2M total

Objectives of the Campaign  To improve the quality of life in watersheds and their surrounding communities by: o Facilitating restoration on over 25,000 acres of riparian lands. o Ensuring watershed partnerships are viable entities able to carry out and or finish slated restoration work. o Creating jobs and training opportunities for over 100 youth and veterans. o Enhancing recreation, increasing tourism and improving local economies dependent on watershed health. To grow the sustainability of the Tamarisk Coalition, which will allow us to continue to serve watershed partnerships. To increase public awareness about the importance of riparian restoration.

How it Will Work Organize, implement and staff fundraising campaign Work with partnerships to capture storytelling and identify prospects Tamarisk Coalition $1,400,000 for 9 partnerships Partnership Fund Help to connect TC with regional funders Continue to fundraise within their watershed to generate match (~ 30%) Watershed Partnerships Money from fund distributed per matching funds Money fundraised through campaign Assistance with fundraising

Fundraising Cycle

TC Responsibilities Design, organize, publicize and staff the campaign Carry out prospect identification, cultivation and make asks Manage donor database Oversee donor thanking and continued engagement in the campaign Collecting and develop story-telling information from watersheds Provide ongoing fundraising assistance to watersheds to help them garner matching funds Write grants Organize and host fundraising events Promote the campaign – press releases, media announcements, etc…

Partnership Responsibilities Assign a point person who will: Correspond with the partnership on campaign related matters Help TC gather requested information about the partnership (e.g. restoration success stories, images, letters of support, write-ups, etc...). Attend and/or speak at fundraising events or to help identify other speakers. Ensure funding requests and reporting requirements are submitted as requested by TC. Help to organize local fundraising events (e.g. dinners, donor field trips, etc…) Help identifying and, when possible, coordinating outreach to prospective regional donors and coordinate on outreach to different funding streams. Work with local Chambers of Commerce, local visitor centers, and/or tourism information organizations to track local tourism information when and if possible. Help promote the campaign through media outlets.

Distribution of Fund Application: report on goals outlined in pre-application Fund distributed annually: March 2017/March % match of dollars requested through fund required. Must be non-state, non-federal and non-Walton Family Foundation funding that is intended to be used for the same type of restoration activities as “fund” dollars will support. Eligible match includes: Donations made by individuals and businesses Donations/grants made by private foundations Planned giving donations Contributions/grants made by local, regional, governments for restoration work that qualifies for support under the “fund” Fees charged by the organization/partnership for restoration work that qualifies for support under the “fund” In-kind contributions made towards activities that qualify for funding through the fund (e.g. capacity, maintenance, and capacity related activities).
