Our Targets There are a variety of targets we have been working towards… The national target is to reduce the number of Child KSIs by 50% KSIs by 40% Slight Injuries by 10% from the average by 2010 Stretch Target 20% on top of national LAA target 7% reduction in KSis

The Scale of the Problem “I am writing to you as the Road Safety Minister to highlight the importance the Coalition attaches to road safety, to recognise the importance of local action… Road casualties have huge economic and human costs. The Government is fully committed to working with local authorities to deliver further improvements in road safety” Mike Penning Road Safety Minister (June 2010) Around 1,240 people report being injured on Nottingham’s roads each year. The Government calculates that, on average, each casualty costs £52,600 This means just under £65.25million is lost each year from Nottingham

Slight Casualties

Serious Casualties Each month around 13 of these injuries are serious, costing an average of £189,200 each … £2.5million a month
