Zonguldak is a city in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It was established in 1849 as a port town for the nearby coal mines in Ereğli and the coal trade remains its main economic activity. According to another theory the name may have come from a compound word, namely Jungle-Dagh, from jungle which the French entrepreneurs named due to uneven and wooded geography of the land, and dağ meaning "a mountain" in Turkish. Climate is mainly rainy, as a typical characteristic of Blacksea climate. High hills surround coasts. Therefore winters are short. Swimming is possible only in two months in the summer. Spring is excellent for outdoor sports. In the fall, you can go fishing. 3

FRIDAY *Meeting with the headmaster and the other teachers at school at 09:00 am. *Walk around the school. *Various sports games by the guest and host students. *Planting tree in the school garden in the remembrance of Zonguldak visit. *Folk Dance show by the school folk dance group,and a short Turkish music concert by the school music group. *Lunch time *Visit to the Culture Centre of Zonguldak Municipiality,Gökgöl Cave,and a tour in the city centre. *Free time from 05:00 pm to 08:00 pm *a dinner at a restaurant with all the participants. 4

SATURDAY * a whole day trip to Amasra * a dinner at a restaurant with all the participants according to comeback time from the trip. History Formed by the combination of four small Ionian colonies during the Greek period, Amasra was an important source of boxwood and was a relatively important city into the first centuries. It was ruled by many leaders including Eumenes, The Pontic Kingdom, and Lucullus. In the Byzantine era, the citadel was made into a fortress, but still the city changed hands between the Byzantines, Russians, and Genonese. The town's importance diminished when it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in It has remained a picturesque town, it's economy driven by tourism. 5

SUNDAY * a whole day trip to Safranbolu *a dinner at a restaurant with all the participants according to comeback time from the trip. The name of the town derives from 'saffron' and the Greek word 'polis' (city), since Safranbolu was a trading place and a center for growing saffron.saffronGreek Safranbolu is a typical Ottoman city that has survived to the present day. It also displays an interesting interaction between the topography and the historic settlement. By virtue of its key role in the caravan trade over many centuries, Safranbolu enjoyed great prosperity and as a result it set a standard in public and domestic architecture that exercised a great influence on urban development over a large area of the Ottoman Empire. The architectural forms of the buildings and the streets are illustrative of their period. The caravan trade was for centuries the main commercial link between the Orient and Europe. As a result, towns of a characteristic type grew up along its route. With the coming of railways in the 19th century, these towns abruptly lost their raison d'être, and most of them were adapted to other economic bases. Safranbolu was not affected in this way and as a result has preserved its original form and buildings to a remarkable extent. 6

MONDAY *Presentations of the Project activities at school at 09:00 am *Guests teachers will conduct a lesson in their own language to teach their language. *Lunch at school between 12:oo and 01:00 pm *Free time in the afternoon.Students will cook their own traditional meal at houses. *Participate in a Drama Performance with the name of KURBAN(SACRIFICE) at 08:00 pm which will be performed by a local Drama group ‘TİYATRO ARIN’. KURBAN "the Sacrifice" is about the drama of the woman called Zehra who rebels against male dominant traditions. However Zehra's fight is personel it also has a social meaning. KURBAN was inspired by Medea but adapted to Turkish Culture,referencing both ancient Greek and modern Turkish theatre and unifying İbrahim’s great sacrifice and self sacrifice 7
